Today we: built a bottle rocket for Mr. Scout's end-of-year competition. We voted for Abelina's amazing design for Stranger Things. Then we explored different types of climate and weather phenomena through some videos to learn more about the weather.

After recess we had the fun activity of Tie-Dying our white t-shirts for the Grade 5 Farewell on Monday. It was so organized and efficient and I am so proud of how well they handled the messy process. We will be leaving the shirts to soak in bags over night and then the grade 5 teachers will get them washed and dried for Monday signing. They will be wearing them to the Farewell, and we are looking forward to seeing/meeting many parents at the event!

We had some time left over after dying, so some students who spent their spare time doing interest projects were able to present them to the class. Kloey had a wonderful slideshow about pickles, and the punny jokes were knee slappers! Layla and Eva presented their love for Paris, France with many alluring photos and hard-to-pronounce names. Well done girls!

After lunch the students had music and gym. Mr. Newton took them outside for some fun games.

We ended the day with some Chromebook time. We did some Kahoot quizzes for some end-of-year review on some of the units we learned this term in LA and science.

IMPORTANT!! This notice was sent to families today.

Sports Day is Friday for Grades 1-5

Dear Families,

This Friday, June 24 we will be hosting our Annual Sports Day with our Grades 1-5 students! (There is no school for Kindergarten on Friday.)  The theme for this day is Beach Day.  Students and staff are encouraged to dress up like they will be spending the day at the beach.

During the day, students will be participating in a variety of fun activities both inside and outside the school (weather permitting).  To help our students have the best Sports Day we would like you to consider the following when sending your child to school that day.

  • Sunscreen – Students should come with sunscreen on already.  Staff will not be apply sunscreen to students, so if you send sunscreen with your child, please make sure they are able to apply it themselves.
  • Proper Footwear – Although we are “spending the day at the beach” students are still asked to wear their indoor shoes and avoid flipflops or other footwear that can easily fall off when running or participating the the activities.
  • Dress for the weather - Right now, the weather network is showing a chance of showers, but we will not make the call about where we will have all of our activities until Friday after students arrive on Friday morning. Please make sure your child has the right clothing for the weather.  (All of our activities will be in the morning.)
  • Frozen Treat – students will be provided with a Mr. Freeze Freezie.  The Ingredient list is attached to this message, and a like to allergens and colours is below.  We ask that if you DO NOT WANT your child to have a Mr. Freeze Freezie, please let their classroom teacher know before Friday.  If we do not hear from you, we will give your child a Mr. Freeze Freezie.

If you have any questions please contact your child teacher or call the office.  Thank you.
